Have students in the past gotten in trouble with their school for posting notes?

We have had students occasionally run into issues with professors who have misconceptions about StudySoup. The professors occasionally don't recognize that StudySoup prohibits the selling of materials created by them, and believe that StudySoup encourages cheating.

All materials posted to StudySoup must be original materials created by the student posting the materials. We strictly prohibit the posting of materials created by professors or copyrighted materials from textbooks. StudySoup does not tolerate copyright infringement, plagiarism, or cheating of any kind.

We solely allow the posting and use of content that has been created by students, and is thus that student’s intellectual property. For decades, students have been sharing their class notes and study guides. StudySoup provides a digital platform for students to be able to share this content with one another in a similar fashion.
